The moisture-laden, hot and humid compressed air from the air compressor first undergoes pre-cooling in an air-to-air heat exchanger. It is then further cooled by the refrigerant circuit in the air-to-refrigerant heat exchanger, where it exchanges heat with cold air already chilled to the pressure dew point from the evaporator, lowering its temperature further.

Next, the compressed air flows into the evaporator, where it directly exchanges heat with the refrigerant. The air temperature drops to 0°C–8°C, causing moisture in the air to condense and precipitate out. These condensed impurities are then separated and discharged from the system via the automatic drain valve.

Finally, the dry, low-temperature air passes back through the air-to-air heat exchanger to exchange heat with the incoming warm air. After its temperature rises, the treated compressed air is delivered as the final output.
