Material selection for high-temperature solenoid valves
1. Function and Application Environment of High-Temperature Solenoid Valves
High-temperature solenoid valves are automated valve devices specifically designed for fluid control under high-temperature conditions. They are widely used in industries such as petrochemicals, power generation, metallurgy, shipbuilding, and heating systems.
In these fields, the medium temperature often reaches several hundred degrees Celsius, placing higher demands on the heat resistance of the valve body, coil, and sealing structure. Reliable high-temperature solenoid valves not only ensure safe system operation but also significantly improve the accuracy and stability of fluid control.
2. Operating Temperature Range and Model Differentiation
Based on their temperature resistance capabilities, high-temperature solenoid valves can be divided into two categories:
• Conventional high-temperature solenoid valves: Operating temperature range of -20℃ to +200℃, suitable for general steam, hot water, and heat transfer oil systems.
• Ultra-high-temperature solenoid valves: Can operate stably at +300℃ to +550℃, and some specially designed models can even withstand ultra-high temperatures of +700℃ to +800℃, meeting the needs of demanding environments such as metallurgical furnaces, combustion control, and chemical reaction devices.
3. Valve Body Material Selection: Balancing Performance and Economy
The valve body material is a core factor affecting the performance and lifespan of high-temperature solenoid valves. Different materials have significant differences in strength, corrosion resistance, and thermal stability.
• Stainless steel (304, 316, 316L): Possesses excellent corrosion resistance and high-temperature strength, widely used in steam, hot oil, and chemical media environments. Especially 316L stainless steel, its low-carbon characteristics effectively prevent intergranular corrosion at high temperatures, extending its service life.
• Cast steel (WCB): High structural strength and relatively low cost, suitable for non-corrosive high-temperature media such as air, heat transfer oil, and some gas systems, making it an ideal choice for balancing performance and economy.
4. Seal Material Selection: Ensuring Long-Term Reliability
Under high-temperature conditions, seals are often the "weak link" of solenoid valves. Good sealing materials need to possess characteristics such as high-temperature resistance, aging resistance, and wear resistance.
• Fluororubber (FPM): Suitable for environments below 200℃, with excellent high-temperature resistance and acid and alkali resistance. • Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE): Can operate continuously at temperatures above 300℃, has a low coefficient of friction and strong chemical stability, making it the preferred sealing material for high-temperature and high-pressure applications.
5. Advantages of Material Application
We consistently adhere to the philosophy of "ensuring quality through materials and enhancing reliability through technology," providing various material combination solutions for different media and working conditions. From stainless steel valve bodies to PTFE seals, every material selection and processing step undergoes rigorous verification to ensure that the product operates stably, safely, and reliably even in high-temperature environments.
